PET – Polyethylene Terephthalate

It becomes the most rapidly progressing plastic in USA A. In spite of the fact it has been used as dress fibers, plastic cordon and carpet for more than 20 years, the use of resin as bottle hpet metkim plastikas been realized in 1977.

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) has superior characteristics such as rigidity, glossiness and high resistance to shocks and is resistant against weak acids, based and most of solvents; it has an oriented crystal structure between the thermoplastics. The tensile strength of Oriented PET is 8000 psi which can be increased up to 30000 psi. the gas permeability of oriented PET is lower than the other plastics. Typical PET resin melts between 260-280°C.

In bottle resins, there are normally less than 2.5 ppm of waste acetaldehyde (AA). "AA" typical values are tested in jars molding via blowing or perform and bottles with bottle cover distance test. Excess AA values may affect the taste of alcohols.

Areas of usage:
PET can be used in microwave oven and be fired by executing extrusion covering with PET of 0.75 and 1.5 millimetric on cardboards, they can also be used as traditional lunch boxes.
PET film is used in monofilament production. These films are in general biaxial oriented films, they can be used alone but also in co-extrusions or laminations.
In plastic sector, PET is mostly used in fizzy drinks bottles and low alcohol magnums. In the middle of the year 1977, PET which was known as commercial, has covered more than 75% of the market of jars of two liters non returnable.
